Rajinder Rana, MLA Sujanpur

Rajinder Rana is an Indian politician from the Indian National Congress and a member of the 13th Himachal Pradesh Legislative Assembly (MLA) representing the Sujanpur assembly constituency of Himachal Pradesh. He has defeated BJP’s Chief ministerial nominee Prem Kumar Dhumal by a margin of 1919 votes.  He is a Vice-President of the Himachal Pradesh Congress Committee. Rajinder Rana is also a Founder and Chairman of “Sarv KalyanKari Sanstha”.

Early Life and Education

Rajinder Rana was born on 6 April 1966 at  Groudu Mihaliyan, PO- Patlander, Distt. Hamirpur in a middle-class family. His father late Sukh Ram Ji was a farmer and mother late Roshani Devi Ji was a housewife. He has completed his elementary education from his paternal village and later obtained a graduation degree from Punjab University in 1986.

Rajinder Rana married to Anita Rana, she is a housewife. He has two children. Son, Abhishek Rana has completed his Bachelor’s degree in Law, he is active in politics and currently serving the party as Chairman, Social Media Department for Himachal Pradesh Congress Committee, and daughter is pursuing a medical degree in MBBS (Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery).

Social Welfare Activities

In 2000, Rajinder Rana provided financial help for the education and marriage of a poor and orphan girl and after that, he has experienced internal happiness by helping underprivileged people. So he decided to dedicate his entire life to social welfare and for that establish an NGO named “ Sarv KalyanKari Sanstha”, that assisted various poor girls for their education and marriage. Many medical and blood donation camps are still being organized by this NGO to provide benefit to the weaker section of the society.  He has provided financial help to more than thousands of girls, for their education and marriage, more than thousands of people are assisted with financial help. For encouraging the women empowerment 579 Mahila Mandal has been awarded 5 times by glasses, gas, mat, on behalf of the Sarv KalyanKari Sanstha under the leadership of RajendraRana. Rajinder Rana has distributed a number of cricket kits to encourage youth sports.

Early Career

After completing his bachelor’s degree, Rajinder Rana did a government job. After giving resignation to the job, he started his business.

Political Career

Rajinder Rana entered into politics with the motive of social welfare. In 2012,  for the very first time, he was elected as an Independent candidate from the Sujanpur assembly constituency.  He has won the election by 14,166 votes from the major national parties. Later he became the associate member of the Indian National Congress, influenced by the working style of the party. In 2014, the Congress party gave him a ticket of Lok Sabha from Hamirpur parliamentary constituency accepting which he resigned from the post of MLA on 14 March 2014. But unfortunately, he did not win the election. On seeing his sacrifice to resign from the post of  MLA in the party interest he has appointed as the Vice-Chairman, Himachal Pradesh, State Disaster Management Authority, 2014-17. Again in 2017,  Rajinder Rana MLA Sujanpur has re-elected as the candidate of the Indian National Congress from the Sujanpur assembly constituency. He has defeated BJP’s Chief ministerial nominee Prem Kumar Dhumal by a margin of 1919 votes.

Awards and Honours

The Bharat Jyoti Award and Mahatma Gandhi Ekta Samman have also been awarded in 2015 by the International Friendship Society New Delhi for his achievements in politics and the social sector. Shri Rajinder Rana Ji, who considers the people of Sujanpur Assembly constituency as his family, is engaged day and night in serving the public without any political discrimination and caste, religion, and religion.
